Our History

Judd Square Condominiums began life in 1877 as a metal works factory --- the H. L. Judd Manufacturing Company. Over the next hundred years it evolved as a maker of brass ware, drapery hardware and armaments during World War II, until 1989 when it became one of central Connecticut's most anticipated industrial-to-residential conversions.

Fortunately, our residential buildings retain some of the historic touches, like 18" exterior masonry walls; an interesting amalgam of a dozen interconnected buildings, some with courtyard gardens; and, of course, our famous smokestack with the letters JUDD rising proudly above the Townhouse units of the complex.

But, make no mistake --- although proud of our history --- Judd Square is now a modern, vibrant residential community.

When looking to purchase a home at Judd Square you may see listings with different street addresses.  So, depending on the location of the unit, you may see 40, 42, 44, 46, or 48 through 58 South Cherry Street on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service).  Judd Square includes all of those addresses.

We look forward to welcoming you and your realtor, as you decide on your purchase.

Our Community

Condos

255 condo units may sound like a lot, but Judd Square is a community in every sense.  Some members of our community are young families who bought their "starter home," others are empty-nesters seeking a more manageable home where most of the upkeep is the responsibility of someone else, and others are young professionals just starting out.  But regardless of who you are, what your age is, or why you decided to live here --- once you move in you're a neighbor.

Neighborhood

Restaurants, shops, salons, taverns, antique stores, historic sites, parks, tennis courts, playgrounds, the Public LibraryYMCA, transportation, and the Wallingford Senior Center are all just blocks away. So, unlike other condo developments that are on the edge of town, if you don't drive, or don't feel like driving, you are only limited in how far you wish to stroll.

Local Activities

Our location puts you in the heart of the action.  Events held on the green in front of the train station or "uptown" on Main Street include: the Memorial Day Parade, weekly Twilight Tunes concert series, Gardener's Market every Saturday during the summer, Celebrate Wallingford Weekend, the Goblin Gathering, Downtown Holiday Stroll and the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting, among others.
